Powered by a mature Cummins NT855-C280S10 or Weichai WP12G240E306 diesel engine, the SD22 bulldozer delivers a gross power of 175 kW (235 HP) and net power of 162 kW (220 HP) at 1800 rpm. The engine features strong torque reserve, stable output at low speed, good fuel adaptability and low failure rate, which allows the machine to maintain stable performance under continuous heavy loads. The maximum torque reaches 1030 N·m at 1250 rpm, providing powerful digging and pushing force for tough soil, gravel and rock layers. The large 450-liter fuel tank supports long continuous operation time and reduces frequent refueling breaks on remote job sites.

The transmission system adopts a planetary power shift transmission with 3 forward and 3 reverse gears. Operators can shift gears smoothly without cutting off power, which greatly improves operation efficiency and reduces operator fatigue. The two-stage spur gear final drives are heavy-duty built, with high load capacity and strong impact resistance. The final drive assembly is easy to disassemble and maintain, and spare parts are widely available worldwide, which is a major advantage for overseas buyers and rental fleets. The undercarriage system includes heavy-duty track frames, track rollers, carrier rollers, idlers and durable track shoes. Customers can choose track shoe widths of 560 mm, 610 mm or 660 mm. The standard ground pressure is 66 kPa, while wide-track wetland versions come with lower ground pressure to prevent sinking on soft mud, swamp and marsh ground.
